Examples
3/8 is exactly 0.375. A negative fraction such as -5/4 is exactly -1.25.
Repeating decimals
1/3 continues as 0.3333... . When the result does not end within 12 decimal places, the tool shows those places followed by an ellipsis. It does not round them.
How the conversion works
Divide the numerator by the denominator. The denominator cannot be zero. Enter whole-number numerators and denominators of up to 15 digits each; mixed numbers such as 1 1/2 are not accepted.
